Our Passion
We draw our passion for the outdoors from our grandmother, legendary Minnesota northwoods pioneer Justine Kerfoot.
Justine fell in love with the Minnesota outdoors, specifically the Gunflint Trail, where she owned the Gunflint Lodge from the 1920’s through the 1960’s. She learned how to hunt, trap, fish, guide, dog sled, and survive in the wilderness from Native Americans.
As she transformed the resort from a seasonal fishing camp into a year-round business, she learned how to build log cabins, install plumbing, and rebuild after a fire destroyed the main lodge during peak summer season.
Her curious mind and resourcefulness made her stories legendary — always starting with a twinkle in her eye and ending with laughter. Today, her spirit lives on through our outdoor adventures.
